A driver was killed this morning when a semi truck collided with a vehicle in Adams County.
The fatal crash happened just before 8 a.m., said Trooper Nate Reid, a Colorado State Patrol spokesman.
The semi truck was westbound on East 70th Avenue, just east of Washington Street, when it crossed over into the eastbound lane and hit an oncoming vehicle head on, Reid said.
The driver of the vehicle that was hit died in the crash. The semi rolled and leaked diesel fuel. The road has been shut down and traffic is being detoured.
The driver of the semi was taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries. Investigators are looking into why the truck crossed into oncoming traffic.
A third vehicle was involved in the collision, but that driver was not injured.
