Dining Out for Life

April 28 marks the 17th anniversary of Dining Out for Life, the juggernaut citywide fundraiser for Project Angel Heart. More than 300 restaurants, from Angelo’s Pizza to Zengo, will participate in this year’s event. Have dinner at a participating restaurant and 25 percent of your bill goes to Project Angel Heart. Women Cook!

Come support Work Options for Women, a dynamic nonprofit that helps low-income women develop professional skills and find jobs, at the seventh annual Women Cook! event at Temple Emanuel in Denver. Chow on food from a baker’s dozen of Denver’s best female chefs including Elise Wiggins (Panzano), Lisa Bailey (D Bar) and Mary Nguyen (Street Kitchen). Tickets are $125 (tax-deductible). Happy birthday, Loretta Lynn

Her birth year is widely disputed, but Thursday marks at least the 76th birthday of the ageless Loretta Lynn, whose landmark country hits “You Ain’t Woman Enough (To Take My Man)” and “The Pill” were groundbreaking feminist anthems in the 1960s and ’70s. Celebrate with a Honky Tonk Fizz!

Honky Tonk Fizz

Makes 1 drink.

Ingredients:

1/2      ounce bourbon

1/2   ounce triple sec

      Lemon-lime soda

      Lime wedge

Directions

In lemonade glass, mix vodka and triple sec over crushed ice. Top with soda and garnish with lime.
