BERTHOUD — Tactical officers surrounded an RV that crashed into a muddy field late Thursday morning after the driver refused to stop for the Colorado State Patrol.

More than three hours — and more than 20 law enforcement vehicles including an armored vehicle — later, authorities arrested the man. Authorities have not released the man’s name nor potential charges.

Officials say a state trooper tried to stop the driver for possibly driving drunk on Interstate 25. Instead, the driver headed east on County Road 12 toward Berthoud.

At First Street (the old U.S. 287), officers put spikes on the road to stop the RV.

The driver reportedly swerved and the vehicle rolled into a muddy field, where he remained inside for more than three hours.
