Saturday, March 19, 2011-  Boulder Police arrested Kevin Michael McGregor (DOB 10/03/88) in connection with the fatal shooting of Todd MaClain Walker (05/01/90) during the early morning hours of Friday, March 18, 2011 in the University Hill area.   McGregor faces three felony charges: Murder in the First Degree, Murder in the First Degree (during the commission of another crime/robbery), and Criminal Attempt Ð Aggravated Robbery.  McGregor is currently being held in the Boulder County Jail without bail.

A 22-year-old Longmont man suspected of fatally shooting University of New Hampshire football player Todd Walker on University hill last month suggests in a videotaped statement to police that “some level of ‘defense of self’ was involved,” according to a motion filed by Boulder prosecutors this week.

In the motion, which Boulder County District Attorney Stan Garnett filed in response to a defense request to postpone the April 25 preliminary hearing for Kevin Michael McGregor, Garnett wrote that McGregor’s self-defense statement was “vaguely” suggested and does not constitute a good reason to delay the hearing.

“There is no reason why the defense cannot be fully prepared to proceed on the limited issues in a preliminary hearing,” Garnett wrote. “Delay for its own sake never serves the ends of justice, especially in a homicide case.”
