DENVER—Police say a man suspected of kidnapping a woman from a Denver shopping mall might also be responsible for the death of a 73-year-old man found in a trash bin in an alley.
Denver police say 24-year-old William Lee Hornes is being held for investigation of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Gerald Schwartzman, found in a Dumpster in a Denver alley Wednesday. Authorities say Schwartzman was shot in the head.
Hornes is also a suspected of robbing a woman at the Cherry Creek Mall and forcing her at gunpoint into her car’s trunk the same day. The woman unlocked the trunk a few blocks away and escaped.
Police say Hornes crashed the stolen vehicle early Thursday and was arrested after taking off in a taxi. He’s in Jefferson County jail.
