GOLDEN — The Jefferson County bomb squad disabled a pipe bomb found near a Golden home Sunday morning, blowing it up under controlled circumstances, said Golden police spokesman Sgt. Ryan Custer.
Golden police requested the bomb squad after someone reported finding a suspicious object about 10:10 a.m. outside 503 15th St.
Investigators collected evidence and examined the explosive, Custer said.
A reverse 911 notification call went out to neighbors, who were warned to stay indoors, and police set up a perimeter to keep cars and people away from the object.
After the device was safely detonated, the perimeter was lifted and residents were told they could leave their homes.
