DENVER—The Colorado Rockies on Monday called up right-hander Clayton Mortensen from Triple-A Colorado Springs and sent down right-hander Alan Johnson.
The 26-year-old Mortensen was acquired from Oakland in January. He’s 2-4 in eight major league appearances with St. Louis and the Athletics.
He could be used out of the bullpen in Colorado. In two starts for the Sky Sox this season, Mortensen was 0-1 and allowed 11 earned runs in four innings for a 24.75 ERA.
Johnson allowed five runs, four of them earned, on six hits in four innings against the Chicago Cubs in his major league debut Sunday.
