Getting your player ready...

Last September, Pat Burrell won the series opener against the Rockies at Coors Field with a two-run, seventh-inning home run off Jhoulys Chacin. This time, Burrell hit a three-run shot in the first off Esmil Rogers. Burrell is a .311 career hitter vs. the Rockies, with 13 homers and 52 RBIs. The only team he has hit better against is St. Louis (.318).

Slow start.

Jumping out to an early lead has been a hallmark of the Rockies’ fast start, but not on this night. The Rockies had outscored their opponents 18-4 in the first inning before the Giants hung a five-spot on Rogers.

Streak buster.

Tim Lincecum allowed three hits, none by Jonathan Herrera. So ended Herrera’s team-high nine-game hitting streak, as well as Troy Tulowitzki’s eight-game streak.
