To devil something (usually eggs, or ham) is to combine it with hot and spicy seasonings like paprika, horseradish or mustard. Make deviled eggs for Easter: Carefully hard-cook eggs. Peel and halve. Scoop out yolks, mash with a spoonful of mayonnaise, a dash of red wine vinegar, a few finely chopped scallions and a dash each of salt, dried mustard and cayenne. Spoon yolk mixture back into whites, sprinkle with paprika and serve.
