About a month and a half ago, I published a fish tale about a trout with two mouths caught by Mark Wilson of Fort Collins. Toward the end of that introductory column, I mentioned that we’re all ears when it comes to entertaining outdoor yarns. We enjoy hearing stories (and seeing pictures) from readers.

Since that time, I’ve heard a few, but none so pensive and eloquent as the collection of essays mailed to me by Don L. Kissling of Berthoud. Prompted by the passing of former Outdoors Editor Charlie Meyers in 2010, Kissling gathered a few fishing tales from his Midwestern youth in the 1940s and offered them for publication.

Given the topic of today’s feature on urban fishing, Kissling’s essay titled “White Plastics Pond” struck me as particularly poignant, so I thought I’d share.
