The Missouri Mavericks stayed alive in the Central Hockey League playoffs Tuesday night with a 4-3 victory over the Colorado Eagles in Independence, Mo.
The Eagles, who have a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five Turner Conference semifinal series, gave up two power-play goals to Missouri and were 0-for-3 on their power plays. The Mavericks led 2-0 less than 12 1/2 minutes into the game, but the Eagles tied the score 2-2 early in the second period.
Game 4 is Thursday night. If necessary, the Eagles would host Game 5 on Saturday.
Aces trump Sky Sox.
The Reno Aces had a 7-1 lead after three innings and held on to beat the Colorado Springs Sky Sox 10-6 in a Pacific Coast League game Monday night in Reno, Nev. In his first Triple-A start, Sky Sox pitcher Daniel Perkins lasted just 1 2/3 innings. He gave up five hits, five walks and six earned runs.
