The grass is always greener on Norlin Quad on 4/20.
As the clock struck 4:20 p.m., thousands of pot smokers took a communal toke and a giant plume of smoke formed above the University of Colorado’s Boulder campus.
“I am smoking weed like it’s oxygen,” said Robert Lodding, 21, of Chicago.
Crowds erupted into cheers at 4:20 p.m., and, by 4:21 p.m., there was a chorus of coughing.
CU spokesman Bronson Hilliard estimates that about 10,000 people were in the crowd for the unsanctioned, annual smoke-out.
Reports indicate traffic into Boulder on U.S. 36 is backed up, and, just before 4 p.m., police ordered Colorado Avenue shut down at Folsom Street.
