Nine years ago, Jerome Crawford stepped away from a 30-year career in the local natural grocery business to start a Lafayette toy shop with his family.

Now he’s looking to trade in the toys for another go in the grocery aisles.

Crawford sent an e-mail to his customers Tuesday saying Crawdaddy’s Toys is for sale.

The opportunity, Crawford told the Camera, involves working for the locally operated Lucky’s Market in north Boulder.

Noting Crawford’s resume — which includes tenures with Wild Oats and Whole Foods — and also his entrepreneurial background in launching Crawdaddy’s, the owner of Lucky’s said the staff addition will help to “break down those walls” between a traditional grocery store and the local community.
