Washington Park United Church of Christ will hold its 17th annual Good Friday vigil against gun violence Friday, beginning at noon at the church.

The vigil, which begins with a brief period of prayer and song, will depart the church around 12:30 p.m. and process to five locations in metro Denver where people were killed by guns in the past year.

The church is at 400 S. Williams St.

At each stop, leaders will give brief details of the person who died and the circumstances of the death. They will refer to one of the traditional “Stations of the Cross,” which tell of the trial and crucifixion of Jesus. They will lead participants in song and prayer.

A flower will be left at each site in memory of those who were killed.

“Wherever a life is taken by violence, Christ is crucified again,” said Kathryn Rodriguez, chair of the church’s Social Outreach Committee.
