Why visit now: With 140 summer workshops planned, Anderson Ranch has something for the artist in everyone, from ceramics and painting to photography and wood turning. Classes are offered for all ages, with family-oriented projects available on weekends and day-long activities targeting specific age groups throughout the summer. Looking for something more intensive? Plan for a week to immerse yourself in your passion, relaxing on the ranch’s rustic retreat-like campus between bouts of exploring your creative side, working one-on-one with the instructors at the ranch’s spacious, open studios. Cost: Class and workshop prices vary; check the website for details.

Stay and dine: Lodging in the dormitory at Anderson Ranch is available on a first-come, first-served basis, most with shared baths, and meals are included (vegetarian options available). You can also stay in the condos, which allows you to cook your own meals, or you can add on a full or partial meal plan. Kyle Wagner
