DENVER—Radiation warnings and privacy alerts at security screenings in Colorado have been rejected by a Senate committee.
The bill would have given Colorado’s the nation’s most far-reaching system of alerting travelers and people visiting public buildings what security systems they’re exposed to.
The Senate considered the requirement earlier this year but decided to hold off on a final decision until lawmakers could review the possible cost of such a requirement. The Senate Appropriations Committee split on the measure 5-5 on Thursday, meaning the bill won’t proceed to the full Senate.
Republican Sen. Kevin Lundberg of Berthoud argued that the public deserves a short description of what security methods they are subject to when they enter public buildings. Democrats wondered how to implement the required warnings.
