A man suspected of starting a wild fire in northern Colorado that destroyed 13 homes turned himself in to authorities this morning.

Thomas Howie, 36, or Fort Collins, was booked at the Larimer County Jail and released on a $10,000 bond, according to the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.

Howie allegedly started the Crystal Fire on April 1 when he was burning a slash pile.

The fire burned about 2,940 acres and was not fully contained until April 11.
