A Weld District Court judge this morning sentenced a Greeley woman to 48 years in prison for conspiring to kill her ex-husband in 2009.
Georgia Watson, 46, dabbed at tears, shook her head, and at one point rolled her eyes to the ceiling as she listened to Weld District Court Judge Timothy Kerns, who sentenced her to the maximum possible term for the crime.
Watson was convicted last month of conspiring to kill her ex-husband, Jeffrey Watson Sr., 44, from Jan. 1, 2008 to his death on Feb. 19, 2009, to cash in on a $100,000 life insurance policy on him, which named her as the beneficiary.
Watson’s boyfriend at the time, Cecil Jo Erb, 29, gunned down her ex-husband in the early morning of Feb. 19, 2009, then tried to flee to Wisconsin before police caught up with him in Iowa. He was convicted last year.
