UNC pulls off series sweep.
Northern Colorado’s baseball team routed Texas-Pan American 14-4, completing a sweep of the four-game Great West Conference series at Jackson Field in Greeley.
The Bears (12-26, 8-4 GWC) gave up only 13 runs in the series and their pitchers had 21 strikeouts. UNC scored 35 runs against the Broncs (16-17, 6-6) in the series and batted .371, including four homers.
“Timely hitting,” said UNC coach Carl Iwasaki, whose team has a five-game win streak. “We’ve been talking about that and pitching for quite a while now, and it all came together this weekend. We’re playing our best baseball of the season. Our guys are really hitting the ball where it’s pitched and taking advantage of their opportunities.”
UNC plays Air Force on Tuesday in Greeley.
