On Thursday, Nordstrom Rack will open for business as an anchor of the Twenty Ninth Street mall in Boulder.
The new store — a relocation of a 10-year-old Nordstrom Rack in Broomfield that closed on Saturday — is meant to exemplify some design efficiencies retailer Nordstrom Inc. has learned through years of developing its off-price concept.
The retailer fills a 39,000-square-foot building that — minus lodging a couple seasonal retailers and temporary events — has essentially been vacant since the local mall opened 4-1/2 years ago. Dark since 2006, Twenty Ninth Street’s southern anchor also has been rife with uncertainty.
