The Wheat Ridge Housing Authority bought the historic Fruitdale Elementary School on Monday for $1 plus cleanup costs, saving it from demolition scheduled for this month.
The historic structure assessment will help create a new use for the building, designed by famed Denver architect Temple Buell in 1927, and will allow budgets and potential rehabilitation designs to be developed.
