The Denver-Aurora-Broomfield metropolitan area saw an unemployment rate of 9.3 percent in March, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Seasonally adjusted, total nonfarm employment in the metro area was up 1,500 or 0.1 percent, from February 2011 to March 2011.
The unemployment rate nationally was 9.2 percent in March.
Both the 9.3 percent for the Denver area and the 9.2 percent nationally were not seasonally adjusted.
The metro area employment picture over the year, however, was better with total nonfarm employment in in March up 10,000 jobs or 0.9 percent over the year.
Currently 1,184,600 people are employed in the metro area in nonfarm jobs.
On a not-seasonally-adjusted basis, four of the 10 industry supersectors in the metropolitan area added 2,000 or more jobs from March 2010 to March 2011.
The largest gains came in the professional and business services, which added 5,300, and education and health services which added 5,000.
Leisure and hospitality as well as trade, transportation and utilities also registered over-the-year gains, according to the federal figures.
The largest job loss was in mining, logging and construction which was down 3,000 jobs.
