DENVER—A man accused of forcing a woman at a shopping mall into the trunk of her car and driving away with her has been charged with second-degree kidnapping and other crimes.
The Denver district attorney’s office says 24-year-old William Lornes was also charged Thursday with aggravated robbery, motor vehicle theft and possession of a weapon by a previous offender. He’s due in Denver County Court May 12.
Lornes is suspected of robbing a woman at Denver’s Cherry Creek Mall on April 13 and forcing her into her car’s trunk. Police say the woman escaped a few blocks away.
Lornes is also suspected of fatally shooting 73-year-old Gerald Schwartzman of Denver the same day and dumping his body in a trash bin. He’s being held in the Jefferson County jail.
