A 25-year-old skier from the Aspen area broke his leg in an avalanche in Pitkin County just before noon today.
His name was not released. The Sheriff’s Department said he was skiing at the M&M Chutes near Express Creek and Taylor Pass.
A group of skiers had gone to the area by snowmobile.
The injured skier was airlifted out of the area and taken to Aspen Valley Hospital at about 2:30 p.m.
