Duck race raises bucks for charity.
The 23rd annual Estes Park Duck Race will take place Saturday at 1 p.m. Participants adopt a rubber duck and select one of 69 Estes Valley charities to benefit from the adoptions. Prizes will be awarded to those whose ducks cross the finish line.
Headless-chicken fest.
The Mike the Headless Chicken Festival takes place May 20-21 in Fruita. Festivities include a car show, music and entertainment, Chicken Dance Contest, food and craft vendors, the 5K “Run Like a Headless Chicken” race, chicken games, eating contests and Mike’s Market. Free admission.
Birds of the evening.
Visitors to Rocky Mountain National Park can view the world of birds that begin their days at twilight during the Wings at Dusk seminar May 26. Spend a day with naturalist Jeff Maugans and learn about the nesting, habitat, conservation, natural history, and ecology of these birds. 970-586-3262
Wine festival in Palisade.
The 20th annual Colorado Mountain Winefest is scheduled for Sept. 15-18 in Palisade. It will feature wine from Colorado in tastings and competitions. Music, seminars, winemaker dinners, winery tours and more also will be available.
