A man was taken to the hospital Thursday evening with burns after apparently falling asleep while smoking a cigarette.
According to emergency radio calls, the man suffered first-, second- and third-degree burns in the incident in the 700 block of East Cimarron Street.
A neighbor said he smelled smoke and stepped outside and saw a man stumbling around with a burn on his hand and another on his rib cage. Initially, the neighbor thought the burn on the man’s body was a tatoo.
The Colorado Springs Fire Department said the victim was taken to the hospital. His condition was not available.
