LONGMONT — A Front Range Community College student was injured late Saturday morning during a chemical reaction that reportedly occurred while she was diluting ferric chloride inside a campus building at 2121 Miller Drive.
The woman, whose identity was not immediately available, was treated at the scene before being transported to Longmont United Hospital. Longmont emergency manager Dan Eamon said the woman reportedly suffered burns on her arms.
Eamon said there was no explosion associated with the chemical reaction, although that had been the initial report as police and fire units and a haz-mat team were dispatched to the scene.
Front Range Community College spokesman John Feeley said the accident happened in a jewelry studio classroom. Longmont Times-Call
