ConAgra Foods offered to buy Ralcorp Holdings for at least $80 a share in March, sources say. Ralcorp generated more than $4 billion in sales last year selling store-brand items such as peanut butter as well as the Post brand of cereal. Ralcorp said Monday that its board had turned down an unsolicited offer.
