DENVER—Federal officials say a recent campaign to safely dispose of prescription drugs netted more than 22,000 pounds of drugs in four Rocky Mountain states.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration office in Denver says last week’s prescription drug take-back program allowed people to safely get rid of unused medications. The goal was to avoid abuse of the drugs or poisoning.
The DEA says 14,114 pounds of prescriptions were collected in Colorado and 6,552 pounds were gathered in Utah. People in Montana turned in 1,649 pounds of medications and people in Wyoming disposed of 769 pounds.
