A “power bump” at a Denver International Airport security checkpoint allowed some travelers to slip through and a shutdown this afternoon.

Operations had returned to normal by 3:45 p.m., an airport spokeswoman said.

The power problem happened at about 2:30 p.m., and when officials realized some passengers had not been properly screened they shut down security and trains for about 20 minutes until those passengers could be found and returned to the gate, according to DIA.

Because of subsequent security backups, some outbound flights were 40 minutes to up to an hour late in departing.
