Western Union, a company older than the state of Colorado, celebrated its 160th year in business Thursday.
“When we began doing business in 1851, Queen Victoria sat on the throne of England; the U.S. president was Millard Fillmore,” Hikmet Ersek, the company’s chief executive and chairman, said in a speech.
When its 150th birthday rolled around, the company was under the umbrella of First Data, so celebrations were more muted.
