TW Telecom Inc. swung to a first-quarter profit on prior-year debt extinguishment costs and higher data and Internet services demand from enterprise customers, which helped revenue rise above analysts’ expectations.

The Douglas County-based carrier reported a profit of $12.6 million, or 8 cents a share, compared with a prior-year loss of $4.5 million, or 3 cents a share. Revenue climbed 6.9 percent, to $332.5 million.
