An Aurora Police officer is the focus of two investigations, one by his own department, for allegedly street racing and endangering the welfare of two children.
Aurora Police Officer Jason Pray, 38, allegedly raced Ronald Bennett, 53, down Castle Pines Parkway in March. Police say both men were driving 81 mph in a 40 mph zone.
The race came to an abrupt end when both men crashed near Lagae Road.
Both men were charged with speeding, engaging in a speed contest, engaging in an exhibition of speed, reckless driving and reckless endangerment.
Pray was also charged with two counts of child abuse because deputies say he had two children under the age of 16 in his vehicle.
Pray was driving a 2007 BMW and Bennett was driving a 2008 Corvette.
