“African Cats”Documentary G. An engrossing and often moving film built around the fierce instincts of a lioness and a cheetah. (Roger Moore, Orlando Sentinel) 89 minutes

“Jumping the Broom”Meet-the-parents comedy PG-13. American slaves had a clandestine marriage ritual: a couple jumped over a broom to signify the start of a shared journey. Based on Emily Giffin’s bestseller, this grating comedy follows the tribulations of Rachel (Ginnifer Goodwin) once she sleeps with best friend Darcy’s (Kate Hudson) fiance. The movie twists itself into a knot trying to make the betrayal OK. It can’t. (Kennedy)90 minutes
