Waiting for the cable guy ranks up there with watching paint dry. A new service from Comcast eliminates the wait. Colorado’s largest cable-TV provider last week launched a triple-play self-install kit that includes everything you need to hook up your home with video, voice and broadband services. The package comes with a digital set-top box/digital transport adapter, a remote control and a high-speed Internet and digital voice modem. Each component is packaged with step-by-step instructions. Comcast has offered single- product self-install kits for several years, but this is the first time the company has released a kit that covers three services. Kits can be ordered online at or by phone at 800-COMCAST for a $9.95 shipping and handling fee.
