Local voice-over guy Pat McNulty keeps showing up in Playboy. No, not naked. Playboy keeps publishing his jokes.

He says it started last year, when I mentioned in this column that one of his rib-ticklers had made it into the monthly. Since then, Playboy has published nine of his jokes, paying him $100 each.

McNulty has three jokes in the May edition. None of them is very racy. Here’s a sample:

“A woman’s husband had been slipping in and out of a coma for several months, but she dutifully stayed by his bedside every single day. One afternoon he finally opened his eyes. When he did, he looked at his wife and said, ‘You’ve always been with me through the bad times. When I got fired, you were there to support me. When my business failed, you were there. When I got shot, you were by my side. When we lost the house, you stayed with me, and when my health started failing, you were still by my side. So you know what?’

” ‘What, dear?’ his wife asked, smiling bravely.

” ‘I think you’re really bad luck,’ he said.”

McNulty not only likes the money, he finds some irony in the situation. “When I was 14 years old, I had to hide my Playboys from my parents. Now I’m a contributor to the magazine, and I have to hide them from my 14-year-old son.”

Bono vs. Jesus.

Boulder peace activist Ivan Suvan jieff, known for bringing Nobel Peace Prize laureates together to spread the word, thinks it’s very fishy that U2 will be in Denver on Saturday, May 21, 2011 — the very same day that followers of radio evangelist Harold Camping think the world will end. A Colorado Springs woman, Marie Exley, has even rented bus-stop ads asking you to “SAVE THE DATE! RETURN OF CHRIST. MAY 21, 2011.”

Suvanjieff, who previously made an end-of-the-world doc you can watch at , is making a doc about this special day in Colorado. He is looking for the answer to three mysteries: Will the world end? Is Bono the Messiah? Who would win in an arm-wrestling match?

He plans on taking his video gear to Colorado Springs on Saturday morning to find his answers, then to Invesco Field at Mile High.

“This seems to me to be an auspicious occasion,” says Suvanjieff.

The Travel Channel’s “Bert the Conqueror” stars an average guy trying to conquer his fears by doing local frightening things. He’s in Colorado from Wednesday through Saturday to take on the best we can throw at him. On Wednesday, he rides two roller coasters at Elitch Gardens. On Thursday, he rides the Glenwood Springs Canyon Swing, zooming 1,300 feet above the Colorado River at 50 mph. On Saturday, he’ll ride the Raft Rodeo in Cañon City. You can watch all this at 6 p.m. July 10.

In 2009, the Aspen Food & Wine Classic charged $250 for a one-day pass to the two Grand Tastings. Last year, they charged $295. This year, it’s $395 . . . Sez who: “Wine is bottled poetry.” Robert Louis Stevenson
