Colorado’s confirmed equine herpes virus cases rose to eight today, two more than on Wednesday, as tests were completed.
Suspected cases of the potentially lethal disease also jumped from 14 on Wednesday to 22 today, according to the Colorado Department of Agriculture. Suspect cases are horses that are believed to have been exposed to EHV-1, but have not yet been confirmed by lab tests.
In addition, 10 facilities in six counties — Bent, Boulder, Larimer, Mesa, Morgan and Weld — are under quarantine and hold orders. That’s two more counties than had been previously reported by state agricultural officials.
