COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Colorado Springs police say an officer who worked in a middle school is suspected of sexually assaulting five children.
The city’s police chief and school district superintendent held a press conference about the allegations against Joshua Carrier on Friday. They didn’t take any questions about the case.
The seven-year veteran and volunteer coach was arrested Thursday on five counts of sex assault on a child under 15. He’s being held in on $500,000 bond.
Authorities say Carrier was arrested earlier this month on suspicion of buying child pornography from a website. Since then, police say they became aware of evidence suggesting he had sexual contact with children.
Carrier was a school resource officer at Horace Mann Middle School and a coach in the Police Athletic League. He’s on paid administrative leave.
