GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A country music festival at the Mesa County Fairgrounds next month has been scaled back because of concerns over access and alcohol.

The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel says Interim Mesa County Administrator Tom Papin told county commissioners Wednesday that festival organizer Bobby Willis now expects 10,000 to 12,000 people to attend Bobby’s Birthday Bash.

Willis also will reduce the amount of on-site recreational-vehicle camping spots.

Papin says residents who live near the fairgrounds were concerned about traffic and safety.

Willis’ attorney, Rich Krohn of Grand Junction, didn’t return a call seeking comment Wednesday. He told The Daily Sentinel on Monday that significant changes were in store for the festival.
