1800 Larimer, the most energy efficient building ever built in downtown Denver and DaVita Inc., which is constructing its $101 million headquarters downtown, were among the six award winners Thursday night at the 50th Annual Downtown Denver Awards Dinner.
The event, sponsored by Polsinelli Shughart PC in the Sheraton Downtown Denver Hotel, drew about 900 business leaders.
DDP President and CEO Tami Door, said that “creative problem solving” was a common thread running through the award winners.
Creative class
“From a struggling park now attracting throngs of people through new events, to a company that searched high and low for a new home to fit with its culture and values. From a cultural institution that off-set advertising costs by partnering with the business community, to a non-profit that is working with the for-profit sector to change commuting habits. From a public institution providing critical services to a population that can’t afford to pay, to a new development that is using sustainable design to reduce its carbon footprint. All of our award winners have excelled at the task of creative problem solving, and all have encouraged us to create, achieve and inspire,” Door said.
