of Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven showed up to last month in a rental car he was using for the spring tour. He had no trailer full of gear, no roadies, just a nylon-string acoustic and a few harmonicas. The rental vaguely resembled a police squad car, and when he had stopped for coffee before the session, the store owner said, “Oh no money, cops get free coffee.” He politely declined.
