COMMERCE CITY, Colo.—Caitlyn Troupe scored in the 43rd minute Tuesday evening, and The Classical Academy won its first girls Class 3A state championship with a 1-0 victory over Peak to Peak.
Troupe took a rebound that skipped past the Peak to Peak goalie, and the sophomore midfielder calmly kicked it in the back of the net for the game winner.
Classical Academy (17-2-1) avenged its 1-0 loss to St. Mary’s in last year’s title game.
Peak to Peak (15-4-1) dominated the first half but couldn’t capitalize on at least four solid scoring chances.
Sophomore Claire LaValley had five saves, including two spectacular stops, for The Classical Academy.
