GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—The organizers of a free country music festival have canceled the event at the Mesa County Fairgrounds.
County spokeswoman Jessica Peterson told The Grand Junction Daily Sentinel that festival representatives notified the county on Thursday that they’ve pulled the plug on the event in Grand Junction, which was scheduled for June 23-25.
The cancellation comes three days after festival proprietor Bobby Willis missed the deadline to pay the county $175,000 in fees and deposits required for the festival to go on.
