A woman accused of being drunk while she drove the wrong way on the interstate, causing a fatal accident, was formally charged today.
The charges allege that on May 14, Victoria Barry, 26, was drunk when she was driving southbound in the northbound lanes of I-25, according to a news release from the Denver District Attorney’s Office.
Barry crashed into a car near Downing Street, killing the driver, 31-year-old Lilly Duncan of Colorado Springs, and then colliding with a second car.
Duncan died at the scene.
Barry faces two counts of vehicular homicide and one count of driving under the influence.
She was released from custody on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Denver County Courtroom 2011 on June 3 at 8:30 a.m., where she will be formally advised of the charges.
