Deputies with the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an apparent homemade explosive that blew up inside a mailbox in Superior this morning or late last night.
The explosion outside a home at 1940 Eldorado Circle was reported to authorities at 9:30 a.m., said Sgt. Jason Heathman. Investigators aren’t sure whether the device went off overnight or in the morning, shortly before it was reported.
The homemade device appeared to have been made using acid, tinfoil and a water bottle, Heathman said. No one was injured, he said, but the mailbox door was found in someone else’s yard.
