The five-time defending series champion has six Charlotte victories. He won five times in a six-race stretch at the track — taking the 2003 Coca-Cola 600 and sweeping the spring and fall races in 2004 and 2005 — and also won the 2009 fall race. Johnson, who is second in the season standings, 24 points behind Carl Edwards, was 37th last season in the Coca-Cola 600, and finished 13th, 39th, 10th and second in the five years since his last win in the event in 2005.
