After 48 years of coaching, Dan McKiernan felt he deserved some job security.
Doherty wasn’t in a financial position to make that guarantee.
So McKiernan is looking for a new place to work.
“I’m egotistical. I consider myself a rock star,” said McKiernan, whose career in boys’ basketball earned him induction into the Colorado High School Coaches Hall of Fame in March. “I am. I’m good at what I do. For somebody to tell me that they’re not even sure they’re going to have a position for me next year (ticked) me off. I said, ‘That’s fine. I’ll go some place else.'”
