DENVER—Evan Escobedo hit two, three-run home runs Saturday night to lead Regis Jesuit to a 15-10 victory over Cherry Creek in the Class 5A state championship at All City Field.
Escobedo, who also made a couple of spectacular diving catches to rob Cherry Creek of extra-base hits, homered in the first and broke the game open with another drive in the sixth. He finished 2-for-5 with six RBIs.
Fifth-seeded Regis (18-8), which won its first state crown since 1988, also had homers from Sam Cameron and Tanner Ernst.
Second-seeded Cherry Creek (18-8) was led by Ian Wilson. He went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer.
