Sunday marks the return of “The Next Food Network Star,” the popular chef-competition show. There’s a reason that Colorado cares more than usual this round: Two contestants are home-state favorites.
Howie Drummond of Highlands Ranch, already famous in these parts as a radio personality (Alice 105.9), has deep history in the kitchen. He was a professional cook long before he hit the local radio airwaves. Watch for him to throw culinary curves — and pithy quips — at the tough panel of judges.
Carbondale’s own Susie Jimenez graduated from the California Culinary Academy before opening Susie’s Custom Catering in Aspen. The experienced chef and cooking teacher will bring a deep knowledge of Latin flavors — and a big personality — to the competition.
Tune in to the Food Network on Sunday at 7 p.m. to cheer on the Colorado contingent. Tucker Shaw, The Denver Post
