Amgen on Wednesday announced it was eliminating 93 jobs in Longmont and 41 at its Lake Centre facility in Boulder, as part of an “overall effort to optimize the manufacturing capacity utilization in Colorado,” according to a company spokeswoman.
Diana Sherman-Palmer said the cuts came across various departments, including manufacturing, facilities and engineering, quality control and business services. The jobs are being permanently eliminated, she said, and affected employees did not have any “bumping rights” — meaning they could not take other employees’ jobs.
Amgen Colorado is what the Thousand Oaks, Calif.-based company calls its Longmont and Boulder sites, Sherman-Palmer said. About 890 employees worked at the two sites before Wednesday’s cuts.
